2002 marks the beginning of a new found collaboration that has constantly evolved and had a prominent impact on the electronic dance scene. Sultan (Soul tan) is without a doubt one of the most consistent producers of the last two years and each time he's involved in a project many people are inclined to check it out by default. Digital Witchcraft much like Sultan have a reputation for creating music that works well in the club or home environment, so when Digital Witchcraft's Ned Shepard and Sultan come together as Jiva, you can bet the results of such a collaboration have been mind blowing.

 

The duo met in Montreal in the summer of 2002 and their passion for music paved the way for the formation of Jiva. As their friendship grew stronger, their productions took on new life and as their individual tastes in music evolved, their collaboration began to take on its own true identity. With their strengths lying in their skills and talents as musicians, Ned as a pianist and Sultan as a guitarist, their chemistry has grown much like that of a band that spends hours writing and jamming tunes.

 

2004 saw the duo's debut release "Strange Dimensions" on Bedrock Breaks and two months later they followed up with a remix of Soul tan and Tone Depth "Broken" on Swift Records. Having produced and released two progressive break beats, the duo has spent the past year in the studio working on several new productions that vary in style and diversity. In fact, you will always be surprised when you hear a new Jiva original or remix because you will never know what to expect. Having developed their own sound and style as individual artists, this collaboration has allowed them to venture into unexplored musical territories and styles that will surely leave a lasting impression on the electronic dance scene.

 

 With over ten new originals and remixes, Jiva is definitely a name that is here to stay and 2005 is truly a showcase of this duo's talent with forthcoming releases on Blend Recordings, Pure Substance Records and Release Records .
