M O O N B E A M
Two brothers, Pavel and Vitaliy, formed a project Moonbeam in 2003 at Nizhny
Novgorod. Oleg Kumagin, a close friend of brothers, became a director of the
Moonbeam. He is promoting the project and organizes their gigs.
In the summer of 2003 Vitaliy and Pavel began to work with Chris Lunsford, a California native, who authored and performed the vocal poetry on a number of tracks. His voice sound in the debut release`s Moonbeam – “Raven Gipsy EP”. The vinyl Moonbeam - “Raven Gipsy”, “Air” / “Raven Gipsy (Chris Micali Mix)” was released on Portuguese label Feed Me Records in June 2005 and got support from Hernan Cattaneo, Nick Warren, Jody Wisternoff (Way Out West), Max Graham, and many more. Now brothers still work with many guest vocalists from different parts of the world – Amigo (Sudan), Nastya Sorokina (Russia), Oxana (Russia), and others.
Another release followed shortly after. Kingkade (Alex Buchanan) signed 5 tracks to his label Dirty Blue Records. Moonbeam 5 track EP was released in September 2005 and supported Laurent Garnier, Umek, The Hacker, Layo & Bushwacka.
Furthermore, Moonbeam released EP on Piliavin & Zimbardo`s label Distraektions Records. The vinyl include 2 tracks “Private” and “East`s Eyes”. In the autumn of 2005, Piliavin & Zimbardo and Moonbeam organized the parties “Let the Drums Speak” at clubs of Russia for promotion this release. “Private EP” was highly acclaimed John Digweed, Eric Entrena, Tony Thomas, That Kid Chris, Flash Brothers, and many more. Pavel and Vitaliy always play together. Their DJ style it is crossing of tech house, progressive and electro tribal music.
In the end of 2005, Oleg, Vitaliy and Pavel found own label Moonbeam Digital. The label has two sub labels: Moon Tribal Records and Disoma Records. They are only a few releases in but already the label is gaining support from John Digweed, Djinxx, Chus, Moshic, Fred Numf, Shiloh, Piliavin & Zimbardo, Derek Taylor (M8 Magazine), Ariel Cybana (365mag), Dean Facer, Moussa Clarke, and many more.
The Moonbeam are signed today with some labels, such as Pure Substance, Flow Vinyl, CP, Minimal, Toes in the Sand, Traum, Mezzotinto, Mashtronic Music and many more.
