PSD010 : Marrocco - House of Swiss EP

Release Date: 17th July 2006
Format: Digital Download

Next on Pure Substance Digital, comes in the form of Lorys Marrocco from Switzerland who has been producing & writing music for the past eight years. Best known for his collaboration work with DJ Nukem with whom he produced ‘ Tell Me A Story’ which was released on Cyber Records Netherlands in 2004 & received excellent feedback from Carl Cox, Peace Division & the likes as well as his last few releases that is making waves.. On this outing Marrocco delivers a masterfully produced solid EP with variations for every DJ and audience.

HIROLLERS kicks in easy on you weaving in & out using a sexy vox over some tight drum kit & crisp percussion but that’s only till a sick acid bassline kicks in after the first drop, moving it up a notch with some real twisted synth stabs. A deep melodic riff leads it smoothly into the main break, switching effortlessly from a 4 to the floor formation into a somewhat breaky edge before picking it up again.

CHORDS PERVERTION get straight into action gearing towards a more tribally edge. Huge kick drums, percussions & a tight bassline. A subtle but rich piano chord reef floats over the top. Never a dull moment on this mix, it really pushes all the right buttons. This is aimed straight for the big rooms we feel.

THE INTRUSION takes you into the deeper end with its dark smokey vox & a sublimely infectious low synth almost hypnotic like. Crisp shuffling hi-hats, percussions & a great low-end bassline. This mix remains deep & hypnotic throughout but the unique quirky elements grows on you every passing minute.

FEEDBACK

Nelson 'Afroboogie' Moreira, Dubai - Chords Pervertion is the one for me. Will get played out and included on my radio show in the next week or two. Support guaranteed.

DJ Romao, Portugal - I love 'Hirollers'. Very 'new' electro house track. I will support.

Virus J, Lithuania - I like Hirollers & Chords Pervertion. I'll play it.

Matt Black (Segment Recordings) UK - Thanks a lot for this, really good release. I love Marrocco's stuff and this is up with the best of them. First track just shades it for me but they're all good !

BP Zulauf (Helvetica Recs) Switzerland - Mr Marrocco is A+ when it comes to techniness atmosphere ! Tres Bon ! Hirollers is a nice set starter, def love the filtered leads and delayed reverbs going on here. Chord Pervertion will def get few plays this summer, techy chords galore with a groovin bassline, def pick of the bunch for me. The Intrusion is a nice deep tech affair, typical of the Marrocco sound... If i could compare this to a women, then i'd describe her as being dirty yet very sexy... PSD is def stepping up with some cool sounds... Fantastic EP.

Moshic (Contrast Records) Israel - The Intrusion, that's the one for me. Still love the last release from Marrocco...

Dj Akisy , Portugal - Very nice vibes sounds.

Dan Welton (Suburban Tracks, Adjust Rec, Shove Music, Intense Promotions) Switzerland - Oh man, what a strong package !! What we have here is 3 pieces of pure dance floor mayhem created by the Swiss wizard of sounds called Mr. Marrocco. My winner is Hirollers...What a groove and atmosphere.... HUGE !! Directly into my box.

Ray Soo (Zouk KL, Younan Music, Traum, Love International) Malaysia - The Intrusion : my favorite of the EP. Riding bassline with some very nice vox stabs and echo effects. Hiroller : nice proggy number with a hint of tribal thrown in for good measure. Cool breakdown also. Support.

Arjun Vagale of Jalebee 'Live Act', India - Totally love Hirollers and The Intrusion. Both have a really cool vibe. Will be slammin this all over !! Chords Pervertion really well produced too. Super work from Marrocco !

Red & Blue (Adjust Recordings) UK - All very cool tracks, however the vibe of Chords Pervertion really floats my boat. It's more progressive than we would normally go for, but the summer groove is brilliant. !!

Federico Giust, Uruguay - I love all of them specially 'Chords Pervertion'. That will def go into my chart, and 3 of them into my mixes.

Matt Terrey, Dubai - Hirollers is fantastic, nice & deep & hits all the right buttons for me. However, Chords Pervertion is simply magic. Definately a very solid track that i can see getting the dancefloor grooving along from start to finish.

DJ Jacco At Work (Drechtstad FM/078 Productions/U4EAfm.be) Netherlands - Chords Pervertion, Deep and chunky. Great bassline that carries the track well and pushing it to a higher level. The Intrusion, Deep, dark ungoing prog like it should sound these days. A sure shot. 9/10

Sniper (Forward Promote) Mexico - The Intrusion, wicked ! This sure will rock in my next gigs. 8/10

Brent Toepper (Red Bull / Oakley) USA - 'The Intrusion' sweet sound of rolling progressive. 9/10

Jevne Miller (Balance Record Pool) USA - Chords Pervertion is dope ! 8/10

Chloe Harris (Balance Record Pool) USA - Good production on all 3 of these. Interesting and effective. The Intrusion is cool. Keeps going and is very hypnotic. 7/10

Villo (Balance Record Pool) USA - The Intrusion Dope ! 7/10

Thee-O (Balance Record Pool) USA - Solid proggy house. Good stuff. 7/10

Logiztik Sounds, Uruguay - 'The Intrusion' is my fav. Dark and groovy. I will play it on my radio show at Frisky.

Helen K (Freeze Mag, City Vibe) Greece - Marrocco did it again for the summer ! Delicious proggy tech house cartel with 3 warm tracks for all cd wallets. 9/10

Danny Alpha (RPO Traxx, CP Recordings), Greece - Nice ep for all the music minds. I prefer Chords Pervertion. Cool track with sweet elements. 8/10

Josi (K-Records), Belgium - Beatstrong track. Chords Pervertion is my favorite. It has a powerful line overall.

Rob Warner, New Zealand - Pure Substance Digital are still plugging away with their unique sound & their latest release, Marrocco "House of Swiss" EP is a doozy little number. Three tracks of progressive house which are all pretty tight. My favourite is "The Intrusion" which is quite dark with haunting chords & very nice percussion elements which help it roll along nicely. It also has some very cool [what sounds like] vocal samples used as percussion.

Grid System (Gareth Davies) Composure Records, UK - 'Chords Pervertion' Love the old-school house vibe this track has. Nice Programming and production in the breakdown too. 8/10

Chris Sterio, Source of Gravity UK - Definitely in my bag for US tour. 8/10 and Charting !!

Kevin Shiu & Nicky Delgado, Canada - Good percussion, proper progressive music for late night. It works !
