PSD018 : U & K - The Monkey Dust E.P. (The Year of The Monkey (Original Mix & Miller & Pennington Remix) and Options (Original Mix & Andi & Pangea Remix)

Pure Substance is proud to have Finland based U&K on our 18th release...U&K are Kimik & Uke, two best friends since their teen years. One of their highlights in their career will be their own monthly clubnight called Miau! which became one of the most legendary clubnights in Finland and was chosen as Best Clubnight of Finland in 1998.

The Monkey Dust E.P., features two original track ' The Year of The Monkey' and 'Options'. Both tracks were written and produced around late 2003 and it was signed by us on March 2006. Despite the age of the track, these two gems still packs a punch whenever it get played.

Flip to the remixes duty, CREATIVE COLLABS is the key word. USA based Jairus Miller and UK based Lee Pennington for The Year of The Monkey. Both have been on-form with their own solo productions lately, and when comes together, they are a force to be reckon with. The result of their remix clearly show prog isnt really boring at all. Keep yours ears too for 'Inner Static' coming out late this year from the duo.

Dj Andi Vasilos and Valandi Pangea of Greece had their hands on 'Options'. They too have been impressive with solo and collaborations lately and the result of the remix is a deep spooky melodic prog that brings you from one dimension to another. Both remixes shows the true reflection of Pure Substance sound and this will definately finds favour among all DJs.

Edan Everywhere (ListentoReason/BrownPaperBag/Oblivion Fringe, USA) - Andi & Pangea Remix, nice track and well produced. The synths move the tune along nicely without overdoing it. Likin' the eerie stabs.

Adam Jace (Fullbodysoundsytem) Australia - Solid release. Love the twistedness in Options, excellent sound fx. The Year of the Monkey (Miller & Pennington Remix) is my pick though, great rhythm and drive.

Zurich Peace Police - Options - Liked the original, very smooth, interesting sounds, would play it out early doors, sure i could defo find room for it on a mix somewhere. The remix left me a little cold tho. Year of The Monkey - Love the tribal drums on the original, but M&P remix is the winner in the package ! Love the rolling bassline and the techy mad bits, nice contrast with the main hook when it comes in. I'm sure this will do some damage. In next months chart.
